Parody (attempted felony theft) email:
The Internet system allows current email that a message is sent with false return addresses. In addition, links HTML formatted messages will also be disguised.
The scammer takes advantage of the combination of these two skills to send the spoof "message." A message is a fake message with a forged return address (with what appear to come from eBay) that contains a link that has been disguised (with what appears to be legitimate).
In general, each message starts saying they have some kind of problem (or occasionally, a really good offer, wins the contest or the question of urgency) to has to act quickly. The message is usually that you need to 'update', 'test' or 'validate' your account information. Maybe some kind of threat serious consequence if you do not respond.
There can be some indications that it is not really from eBay or PayPal, such as poor spelling, grammatical errors, greetings and ridiculous claims. However, you always know to be false because we are asking you to click a link (or button is pressed, the respond like now) in the message to resolve the problem. This is your first clue that it is false. The scammers eventually learn to hone their message content, but still have to be convinced to click on this link (or switch).
If the message purporting to be from eBay, a duplicate copy will be in the MY MESSAGES section in My eBay. Always check before you consider taking any action. If not in your MY MESSAGES, this is another indication that it is false.
If you click on the link a false message (not recommended) which leads to a very real aspect display with seemingly authentic logos and real links, where you will learn requested personal. NO not fall victim to their fraudulent attempt to obtain your personal information this way.
I received a spoof email, what I do?
— If you clicked on the link or otherwise disclosed information ….
• Because the disclosure of personal information you put at risk of identity theft victim, you should immediately go to the Federal website Trade Commission identity theft, and follow the instructions there to report information to credit bureaus, credit card companies, and law enforcement.
• ALSO present a complaint online with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (a joint project of the FBI and National White Collar Crime Center).
• Also, change passwords as described below.
— If you clicked on the link (because you can purchase single click keylogging software or viruses) …
• change your password – Y – change the secret question and answer
• perform a complete virus scan of your computer, using software update, eliminating all threats
• perform a complete adware / spyware scan of your computer using the software update, the elimination of all threats
• restart the computer
• change your password again – Y – changing the secret question and answer again
— If you clicked NO on the link …
• No response to email.
— And in ALL cases above … forward copies of the e-mail or file a complaint with all of the following locations. They work to stop these criminals.

• – present a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission: filing a complaint
• reportphishing@antiphishing.org – Anti-Phishing Working Group, or report on phishing

Is there anything I can do to avoid being deceived in the future?
• EBay has started adding a duplicate copy of mail sent to you in your MY MESSAGES section of your My eBay. Always look to see if a copy the message you received is there.
• NEVER use within a message received in your regular email account.

Therefore we require our members to add a debit / debit card to their billing records as part of our ongoing commitment to protect your account and to reduce instances of fraud on our website. Your debit card / debit card be used only to identify the user and the account any seller fees incase your initial credit card was declined. If you could please take 5-10 minutes of your online experience and renew your records is not any future problems with eBay ® service. However, confirming the lack of records will result in the suspension of your account.
